Poor Sister Montoya has been so worn out from being a new missionary! We have fun together :)

Just call me "Sister Miss Griffin". I not only teach the gospel, but I teach English as a class for free. I feel like such a teacher!!

Short post

Time went way too quick today because I had to report numbers and forgot them at home so I had to do them here and now time is at an end. I don't have much time left...Last night we taught a man named Anthony. He met with missionaries years ago and we found him on the street and while we were talking to him he felt the gospel and began to weep. It was a beautiful experience. But he doesn't want to progress or be baptized which is so sad. He completely understands the gospel of Jesus Christ and that with faith we need action, but he thinks his action is different than other peoples. I know that he will accept the gospel someday. I just hope it is sooner rather than later... haha
It's getting very cold here!!

Sister Cannon made these for us and our investigator Maggie who is getting baptized next week!!!! <3

Some thoughts and giggles...

Hiya! :)
I am doing very very well. I made a voice recording this week with Sister Montoya and it was so cute, but too long. Bummer, I know. Maybe next week. I had the 24 hour flu on Wednesday, but I refused to stay home because I just KNEW I would see miracles. We went out all day walking all around trying by homes and guess what! So many miracles! We met two different families living in the same home that both want to learn more. We taught a girl the restoration and some of the plan of salvation. The spirit was so strong, but she doesn't think she wants to know more. We taught a family and got 6 new investigators. The Lord provides when we think all our strength is gone, and it is truly amazing!
Haha, it is really funny because sometimes I think to myself "Oh my gosh... my mission is almost over. I am going home so soon! I don't know if I am ready for that! The time flew! I am so excited to see my dear family!" Then a few hours later I think "Oh my goodness, is this day going to ever end? Man, I am never going to go home. 6 months is forever away!!"
It is already FREEZING here!!! This is supposed to be the coldest winter in Limerick in 100 years!!
I love Sister Montoya. Training is hard... like anything new. But we are having fun! :)
I taught Maggie in Glasgow and just got this email from her. It is this part of the mission that I love so much. This is what makes 18 months all worth it... "Aww bless a love u to and a mean that from ma heart a think abt u every day yes am still getting taught of the missionaries a love the church in Dunfermline am getting baptised so am so excited thank u sister Griffin u have shown me a better life and am really happy u was a blessing in ma life and still are xx" From Maggie
I hope that your week is awesome! :)
Love, Me.

Some humor from me to yous...

Need an ark? I Noah guy.
What did Noah say as he was loading creatures on to the ark? Now I herd everything.
Did you know that Arkansas is the only state mentioned in the Bible - it says Noah looked out of the "ark ... an ... saw."
How did Moses drink his tea? He-brews it.
Which woman in the Bible was smartest financially? Pharaohs daughter! She went to the bank of the Nile and drew out a little prophet
Noah was a great investor.  He floated his stocks while the rest of the world was in liquidation.
How did the Jaredites get to the promised land?  They barged in.

Short post...

I was able to watch most of conference, but not all of it. I can't wait to get the conference ensign. I love General Conference so so much. I loved President Utchdorf's talk for the Women's session. Wow. Just exactly what I needed to hear.
Training has been as good as possible. I have been learning a lot about how being a good example means so much. Just by doing what I am supposed to be doing she has been following my example. It has been good. We have some things in common. She is very sweet and funny.
FUNNY STORY! Yesterday (Monday) was Zone Development. The day when all the missionaries in the zone get together to play games so we can create unity and not be depressed. We were playing football (soccer) and I was running my fastest for the ball and then I went a bit too fast for my feet and belly flopped the ground. Now my tummy is bruised! HAhaha, that would happen to me, wouldn't it? :)
Have a good week :)

Kelsey the trainer!

Oh my goodness, this week was CRAZY! I am such a hot sweaty mess. Literally. I don't know where anything is in Limerick!!! I have only been in Limerick for 6 weeks, but for about 3 of those weeks we were indoors due to illnesses. I couldn't remember where the place was to email so we were running all around with our heavy grocery bag. The great thing about getting lost is that it will never happen again! hahaha! I travelled all day Tuesday and on Wednesday at 4 am we took a plane from Dublin to Edinburgh! We didn't get back to Limerick until 10:30ish on Thursday evening. I am training Sister Montoya. She is 19 years old and from Mexico City. She is the cutest thing! :) It has been hard. There is a bit of a language barrier. She knows English, but communication is sometimes difficult. I am been turning to the Lord a lot for strength and help and guidance... then today she told me she is grateful for the way I give correction because I do it in a firm but loving way. That meant so much to me because that is exactly what I have been praying to have help to do... as much correction is needed for new missionaries. Guess what! A recent convert from here named Viviane is going to visit Mesa in November! She will be visiting the Mesa temple!!!!!! :D
I am doing well. Stressed, but that's mission life :) I am learning to try to not be soooo stressed. Everything happenes the way the Lord needs it to. :)
I am still in Limerick so all addresses are still the same. :) It really does seem like I was just trained! Sometimes I wonder if I really am the one for this job.. Haha!
We will not be seeing the broadcast until Saturday... I can't wait to see it though!
I recently heard that a temple in Phoenix is opening! That is incredible! If we get enough priesthood holders in the Limerick branch then it can become a ward and Ireland can request a temple!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Prayers are answered if we have the faith and willing to take the action. A reoccuring theme of the week for me has been "faith without works is dead".
Have a great week!

A Missionary Poem

He's Been There Before
The alarm rings at 6:30; I stumble to my feet.
Grab my companion's bedding and pull off his sheet.
A groan fills the room, is it already time to arise?
It seems like just a second ago I was able to shut my eyes.
The morning activities follow with study, prayer and such.
When it's time to leave the apartment, you feel you haven't done too much.
"We have a super day planned." my companion says with a grin.
I lowly utter a faithless breath, "Yeah, if anyone lets us in."
With the word of God and my faithful Schwinn, we ride off in the street.
Prpared to face another day of humidity and heat.
It's 9:30 in the evening, the day is almost through;
My companion and I are riding home, not accomplishing what we thought to do.
We ride up to get the mail, hoping to receive a lot,
Only to look inside and hear my echo reverberate "air box"
We go up to our apartment, the day is now complete.
The only thing to show for our work, a case of blistery feet.
It's past 10:30 pm, my companion is fast asleep.
Silence engulfs me all about and I begin to weep.
In the midst of sadness, I kneel down to pray;
I need to talk to Father, but I'm not sure what to say.
"Oh, Father," I begin, "What happened to us today?
I thought we'd teach somebody, but everyone was away.
My hands, my aching hands - worn, hurt, and beat;
If our area was any smaller, we'd have tracked every street."
"Why on missions are the days all so much alike?
The only difference about today was the flat tire on my bike.
Will you send some cooler weather? The heat is killing me.
I sweat so bad, it gets in my eyes. It's very hard to see."
"Why do I have to wear a helmet, isn't Your protection enough?
People always laugh at me and call me stupid stuff.
Please send us investigators so I may give them what they lack;
I want to give them Book of Mormons, the weight of them hurts my back"
"And what about my family? They don't have much to say.
I'm sick of not hearing from home, day after day, after day.
My companion, Heavenly Father, what are you giving me?
The way he rides his bicycle, I don't think he can see."
"Oh Father, why am I here, am I just wasting time?
Sometimes I want to go home, I'm sorry that's on my mind.
Now you have it, I can't go on, I don't know what to do;
That, my Father in Heaven, is the prayer I have for you."
My prayer now finished I get up and jump right into bed.
I need my rest for tomorrow; we have another long day ahead.
Sleep starts to overtake me, I almost drift off.
Then it seems a vision takes me to another time and another day.
I'm standing alone on a hill, the view is very nice;
A man walks toward me and says, "My name is Jesus Christ."
Tears of joy well up inside, I fall down to His feet.
"Arise," He states, "follow me to the shade - you and I need to speak."
My attention's towards my Savior, total and complete.
He says, "Your mission is similar of what happened to me,
I understand how you feel, I know what you're going through;
In fact, it would be fair to say I felt the same as you."
"I even know how you felt when no one listened to you,
At times I felt not quite sure what else that I could do.
I know you don't like to bike, for you a car would be sweet;
Just remember the donkey I rode wasn't equipped with 21 speeds."
"I understand you don't like sweating. In fact it's something you hate;
When I sweat blood from every pore, oh the agony was great!
I see you don't like your companion - you'd rather have someone else;
I remember my companion Judas, he sold my life for wealth."
"It's hard to wear a helmet and have people make fun of you,
Much like when they put thorns on my head and called me King of the Jews.
So you feel burdened down by the weight of your pack,
I recall how heavy the cross was when they slammed it on my back."
"Your hands hurt from tracking and knocking on doors all day,
I guess when they pounded nails into mine, I ached in a similar way.
It's hard not to hear from home when your family's not there to see;
I lost communication on the cross and cried, "Father, why hast thou forsaken me?"
"We have a lot in common, but there's a difference between us you see,
I endured to the end and finished my mission, so follow and do like me."
He embraced me with his arms, His light filled me with His love,
With tears in my eyes I watched as He ascended back to the Father above.
I stood with awe and wonder when a beep rang in my head,
Listening I heard the alarm, and realized I was in my bed.
My companion let out a grumble, "It's 6:30 already, no way!"
I sat up and said, "Come on, I'll even carry your scriptures today."
No matter what we go through, when we feel we can't take no more,
Just stop and think about Jesus Christ, He's been there before.

A little news and some pictures...

I am doing so well. I am going to be training a new missionary. I won't find out who she is yet though. The process is we go to the mission home and get interviewed. The new missionaries come. We all climb Pratt's Hill. President interviews the new missionaries. Then he prays to see who should be together. AND then we know who we will be with! I am so excited! I just know that this is what I have been prepared for! :) Hopefully I can train this girl right...
